Disappointing Rental Experience
We rented this Windsor home from Sep.2024, always paid rent on time, and took good care of the property. The landlord lives in Toronto, and maintenance was often slow. Our dishwasher broke several times before finally being replaced with a smaller model. Before signing the lease, the landlord agreed 30 days' move-out notice, drafted the clause in Schedule A, and signed it. However, when we planned to leave on October 31, 2026, the landlord insisted on 60 days. We initially followed this explanation and gave notice for November 30. When we later found out the additional clause and raised the signed 30-day clause, the landlord refused to honor it. Our $3,200 last month's rent deposit remains in dispute. We were also charged a $500 pet deposit, which is generally prohibited under Ontario law. We are very disappointed. Future tenants should carefully verify lease terms, deposits, and maintenance arrangements before signing.
