Great building, terrible landlord - Kirin Realty
Everything about living here was just fine, the building was a little slow to react to major AC issues in the hottest part of summer, but so be it. The landlord/management company was absolutely abysmal - no communication whatsoever, I basically did all maintenance myself because else I'd be waiting weeks for anyone to show up. I didn't even mind this though. What I did mind, is that when I moved out, they tried to keep my security deposit because I didn't give them enough notice... no notice is required for a fixed term lease in Alberta, so I told them that was illegal. Long story short, they stopped communicating with me entirely, eventually sent me some security deposit, without any explanation as to what they had deducted or why. And still refused to respond to any of my emails. So I applied to the RTDRS (Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service), and packaged up all the evidence I had. The hearing is still coming up, but I am 100% confident that I will get my money back, as I have done everything correctly, politely, and within the law, while they have done the opposite. This building is a great location and perfectly fine to live in, but I HIGHLY recommend NOT using Kirin Realty ever, anywhere, for any rental.
