Overseas owner, rental agency doing the least
Overall condition of the suite was quite dirty when we moved in, layers of dirt on the window sills and a layer of dirt on the floors. Seems like they didn't bother to clean after some minor renovations occurred. There was no working heating system in the basement. Upstairs tenants had full control and would turn the heat off when they left for vacation (unknowlingly). When we used a plug in heater (it was winter) and blew a fuse, the rental agency guy "Alex Ren" told us not to use them (lol, and have no heat??). We told him that the fireplace didn't work and they never sent anyone to fix it. No dishwasher, grungy bathroom. Absolutely zero soundproofing between upper and lower suite. I mean ZERO. Very old appliances as well. Extremely high utility rate paid each month - we ended up getting over a thousand dollars back after the year. They were grossly overcharging. It's also unfair when you have no ability to control the heat. Lots of silverfish and spiders - our stuff got infested with silverfish and we inevitably brought them to our next place.
